Abstract

This study aims to improve student learning outcomes in science subjects in primary school. This research is motivated on the fact that learning science in the sixth grade remains a bottleneck. One of these obstacles is less varied application of learning methods that have a negative impact on student learning outcomes in science subjects. The use of active and creative learning approach can improve student learning outcomes of Grade VI Elementary School, especially in science teaching. This research is a classroom action research (PTK), which includes four research stages: planning, implementation, observation and reflection. This research was conducted in two cycles using the instrument of observation and tests. Observations made during each cycle is applied while the test conducted at the end of the learning cycle to measure student learning outcomes. The results showed that the application of learning using PAKEM implementation can improve student learning outcomes sixth grade in science subjects. It looks at value - average student learning outcomes obtained in the first cycle and the second cycle. In the first cycle, the average - average student learning outcomes is 7.2 and the second cycle, the average - average student learning outcomes increased to 7.79 with a minimum completeness criteria (KKM) 7.5 for science subjects in the sixth grade SDN 29 Ganting East Padang District.
